“We need the tonic of wildness...At the same time that we are earnest to explore and learn all things, we require that all things be mysterious and unexplorable, that land and sea be indefinitely wild, unsurveyed and unfathomed by us because unfathomable. We can never have enough of nature.”

June 20: Assistens KirkegÄrd & sunshine in Copenhagen [photo journal]

By 04:18 , ,

A beautiful, sunshine-filled day visiting Assistens KirkegĂ„rd, playing effeuiller la marguerite, and relaxing in Copenhagen, told (mostly) through images.

The air was thick with swarms of fuzzy bumblebees, their pollen-covered legs making them slow.  We spied one red squirrel with tufted ears, but he scampered off behind a headstone before we could capture him on camera.  Couples were cuddled under the trees, or drifting on pedal-boats through the canals, and young families were nestled in every corner, smelling like sunscreen.  We found ourselves a seat in the sun, sleepy from the heat (we'd forgotten what it felt like to be so warm) and quietly reminisced about the adventures we'd had so far, and the ones on the cards for next year.
